Singer® 14T957DC Overlock Machine
DECORATIVE PILLOW
MATERIALS NEEDED
- 1 yd satin - off white
- 1 yd textured jacquard
- 1/3 yd dupioni silk or solid decorative fabric
- 1 yd lightweight iron on stabilizer
- 1 yd ¼" stringed pearls - white
- 1 yd ½" organza ribbon - off white
- 1 spool 6 weight decorative rayon thread - off white
- 3 spools overlock thread - off white
- 3 spools 40 weight rayon thread, a shade darker than satin fabric
- 18" pillow form
FABRIC PREPARATION AND SET UP
Press stabilizer on to the wrong side of all fabric pieces.
Cut an 18" square paper pattern to use as a guide. Draw your lines(see illustration). Cut each piece and use a pattern for each piece of your different fabric pieces. Make sure you add seam allowance to each piece as you cut.
Cut a 19 ¼" square out of the textured jacquard.
Block 1 - Chain Stitch
Fabric: Satin
Overlock Setup: Chain Stitch
Thread: Needle - regular overlock thread; Looper - 6 weight decorative rayon thread

With marking pen, mark the stitching lines on the wrong side of
your stabilized piece. Using the chain stitch, sew on the marked lines as your guide. (Wrong side!) The chain stitch will appear on the right side.
Block 2 - Triple Cover Hem Stitch
Fabric: Satin
Overlock Setup: Triple cover lock stitch
Thread: Loopers - regular overlock thread; Needles - 40 weight rayon thread
See manual pages 25-29 & 52 for threading & "how to" instructions.
With marking pen, mark the stitching lines (see illustration). Sew the triple coverlock stitch on the marked lines on the right side of your fabric.
BLOCK 3 - Alternating Rows of Beading & Double Cover Hem Stitch
Fabric: Satin
Overlock Setup: Organza ribbon- Double cover hem stitch
Thread: Regular overlock thread
See manual pages 25-29 & 51 for threading & "how to" instructions. Do not thread middle (blue) needle.
Mark lines 2" apart with marking pen. Starting with second row, sew the organza ribbon using the double cover hem stitch, sewing alternating rows on your piece of satin.
Overlock Setup: Pearls - Two thread flatlock
Thread: Regular overlock
Fold fabric along markings and sew pearls on with the pearl foot using the flatlock stitch.
See manual pages 18, 23, 36 & 44 for flatlock sewing. Thread left (orange) needle & lower (red) looper only.
Block 4 Silk & Block 5 Jacquard
No embellishments.
Once all pieces have been embellished, cut out each piece to the actual size. Be sure to leave 5/8" seam allowance around
each piece.
Two thread flatlock all pieces wrong sides together, using regular
thread in needle and 6 weight decorative rayon in lower looper.

Thread left (orange) needle & lower (red) looper only.
Cording
Cut bias strips of satin to sew cording for pillow. Use the optional cording foot to construct & assemble cording.
Sew cording on right side of pillow front.
Pillow Construction
Place right sides together and sew sides, leaving enough room to insert pillow. Hand stitch opening.
